Katy Bourne backs introduction of national fast track and direct entry recruitment programmes in Sussex
Sussex Police & Crime Commissioner, Katy Bourne, has welcomed a new national recruitment programme launched by the College of Policing that will enable direct entry to the police at superintendent level and provide an opportunity for police constables to fast track to inspector level.
Commenting on the new scheme, Mrs Bourne said: “The direct entry programme is designed to attract exceptional leaders into the police service. Fast tracking is also an effective way of promoting the very best talent from within the service into leadership roles more quickly.
“It is at the discretion of individual PCCs and their Chief Constables to decide which of these opportunities police forces will introduce. I am pleased that from Monday 7 April Sussex Police will be accepting applications for both programmes to help to build the best possible police service for local people.
“Direct entry at superintendent level also represents excellent value for money as it will be fully funded for the first three years by the Government.”
